THE WIM HOF METHOD

The Wim Hof Method is a simple, yet powerful method, based on the foundation of three pillars: breath work, cold exposure, and mindset. It's the combination of these three elements that make the Wim Hof Method uniquely powerful. It has been linked to numerous mental and physical health benefits such as stress reduction, strengthened immune system, better sleep, more energy, and faster recovery.

YOUR HOSTS

Corey Spiegel

Light House Founder, Corey Spiegel, craved a place to get real with other women facing similar life challenges, someplace she could gain perspective on a shared experience and hopefully find community in the process. As her idea grew, she met many talented and wise women who joined her on this journey. Together, she created a place where women could come together and get real - without fear, bias, or judgment. Light House was created for the countless women out there in the world who crave wisdom, insight, and community in life's journey.

James Stewart

With 7 years of experience, James Stewart is a Certified Level 2 Wim Hof instructor and breath work coach from Lake Bluff, Illinois. He has trained first responders, marines, professional athletes, and men and women all over the world and is one of less than 100 people certified in the U.S. to teach the Wim Hof Methodology. James utilizes different meditation and breathing practices that open the door for internal reflection and mindfulness. FAQs

+What if I get "cold feet" and can't get in the water?

All activities are optional and there is no pressure to “take the plunge”. Listening to your body is an important awareness to have and we will be training that throughout the weekend. There are also other cold exposure options and opportunities to participate in.

+Are we required to participate in every weekend activity?

No. All activities are optional.

+What can I do to prepare for my weekend experience?

If you have any health concerns, talk to your doctor about taking ice baths and doing super-ventilation breathing exercises. Finishing your showers with a 10-30 second period of cold or cooler water can help better prepare you. Gaining the confidence and understanding that you and your body are capable of much more than you think will certainly help and ease your mindset.

+What are my participation expectations?

The weekend is an opportunity to expand your understanding of your body and mind so being open to new information and experiences will elevate your own experience. Leaning into resistance both physically and mentally can facilitate a breakthrough of limitations and beliefs that no longer serve you. Asking any and all questions to your facilitators so that any concerns can be addressed is also recommended.

+What can I wear for my cold dips?

Swimwear/rash guard short or long sleeve ; exercise clothing, leggings, hats, socks. Main goal is to have you most comfortable stepping into the discomfort.

+What should I bring?

While Sand Valley provides great room amenities and a variety of equipment for all of your indoor and outdoor fun, you may require additional items for the ultimate experience. Below is an optional list of items that can help you prepare for your visit.

  • Swimwear/rash guard shirt short or long sleeve

  • Snow boots

  • Ice Skates (optional)

  • Skis (optional)

  • Extra hats, gloves (neoprene ideal), and scarves

  • Exercise clothing
