Description of Class: Let's get real. It's tough being a kid today and even harder being a parent. High profile acts of violence, especially in schools, can both frighten and confuse kids who feel they (or their friends) are in danger. From mass shootings to drugs, alcohol, sex, bullying, diversity, inclusion, social media and FOMO (fear of missing out), it's no wonder our kids feel so overwhelmed and stressed out. This 6 part series will spotlight how we monitor responsible social media activity, educate safe sex practices while effectively communicating the risks, how being bullied can damage one's self esteem, and the dangers of using drugs and alcohol. What are we saying to our kids, how are we saying it and when is it time to say it? How do we as parents pump the brakes on behaviors gone awry and repave the road to good decision making?
